Top 10 favorite moments from Aunt Niki's Surprise 40th Birthday Party:

1 :: Getting ready for the party was quite entertaining. My mom did my hair for the first time in years. She worked her 80s magic by teasing my poor bangs as high as they could go. Lots and lots of hairspray was required to keep those babies high in the sky.

2 :: Blue eyeshadow, bright pink lips, & rosy blush....heaven help me. I felt like a clown, but it was all in good fun.

3 :: My own mother's 80s outfit took the cake. If there was a prize for the best costume, she would win. You see her colorful, huge collared shirt? She found that at Savers, shoulders pads still in tact. We just about died when she found it, but alas, she wore it to the party with confidence.

4 :: Speaking of my mom's 80s appearance, her hair was something to take note of. She curled it, teased it, and put a very cute flower in it. Lets just say she vowed never to do her hair like that again but a family member (who will reman unnamed) told her she should do her hair like that everyday! She then went on to say that it made her look 15 years younger. Oh heaven help this poor aunt who is stuck in the 80s.

5 ::  I absolutely loved seeing all the decorations. See these old 80s dresses behind its? Dear Aunt Niki wore them all to school dances. Will my school dance dresses be that out of style in 20 years? Guaranteed yes.

6 :: The first reactions of all the guests who walked into the party was priceless. For me, it was entertaining just watching each person as they each step foot into the house. I can still hear the shrills and laughter of the guests noticing other guests outfits.

7 :: But my most favorite reaction was Aunt Niki's of course. We all filed in her entry way and as she walked through the door we all yelled "SURPRISE!!!" Her reaction looked something liked this:

8 :: Ruben's Backyard Restaurant came and catered the party. It was quite delicious mexican food.

9 :: The entertainment was fabulous. Niki's sisters put together a skit of Niki's life highlighting all of her quirks. The music was also wonderful. Nothing beats a good eighties tune.

10 :: Lastly, the fact that my whole family was dressed up in 80s attire made me smile and I am positive that it made my parents even more happy. They both are hardcore 80s fans. Our family still listens to 80s music everyday & even watches 80s shows like "Saved by the Bell." Ever since I was little, I remember them raving about how great the 1980s were. To this day, my dad still raves about french cut swimsuits & big hair sprayed hair. Saturday night, I was able to have a little taste of what the 80s were really like. And my final thoughts?

Totally rad, dude! ;)

You are totally awesome. What a talented writer you are. It is a gift! I really did think you looked amazing. You would have been a total catch in the 80's!
